What is Playaway?
Playaway is the newest format of audiobook.  It’s the only format that combines the content and player into one unit.  Every other type of audiobook – whether it’s CDs, cassettes, or downloads – requires the user to have a certain type of player and the technical knowledge to operate it.  Playaway combines a very simple player with digital audiobook content, so virtually anyone – from kids to seniors – can use it to start listening immediately. The Playaway comes equipped with a universal headphone jack, so any compatible accessory – headphones, speakers, or FM transmitters – can be used to listen.  Additionally, Playaway sets itself apart from other formats of audiobooks because it remembers where you left off – so there is no need to go back and find your spot in the story.

How big is a Playaway and how much content can it hold?
Playaway is about half the size of a deck of cards and holds content that ranges from six to 40 hours of play time.

How does Playaway compare to digital downloads and other forms of on-the-go downloading like cell phones?
Playaway comes pre-loaded with great digital content, so it does not require information transfer fees, subscriptions, memberships, or even an Internet connection. Just plug-in your headphones and listen wherever you go.

Why can't I add, delete or transfer content on or from a Playaway?
In order to protect the copyrighted works of authors and publishers as traditional books do, you are unable to make copies of Playaway. But you can share them with friends just like you would lend your new bestseller.

How does Playaway compare to audio on cassette or CD?
Playaway is more convenient and easier to enjoy than juggling multiple CDs, cassettes or a separate player. Playaway allows the listener to control the speed of the narrator's voice and automatically bookmarks the last place they left off after powering down.

Can I use another set of headphones with my Playaway?
Absolutely. In addition to the earphones provided, Playaway was designed with a universal headphone jack to work with almost any type of headphones, speakers or car adapters.

Can I use Playaway in my car?
Yes. Playaway was specifically designed to use most commonly available cassette adapters and FM transmitters.

How long does one AAA battery last?
Every Playaway comes pre-loaded with a standard Duracell AAA battery that will provide up to 12 hours of playtime. Depending on total playtime, some titles come with an extra battery.

Why won't my Playaway turn on?
First, pull the small white battery tab with the arrow on it. This will activate the pre-loaded battery.

What do I do if my Playaway locks up?
Like any good storyteller, sometimes the Playaway just needs a moment to catch its breath. First, turn it on and off. If that doesn't solve the problem, remove and reinsert the battery.

Is my Playaway covered under any kind of warranty?
Yes, when delivered to you in new condition in its original container, Findaway World LLC warrants Playaway against defects for one year from the day you buy it. Learn more about Playaway's one-year limited warranty and safety precautions.

How do I use the lanyard?
Locate the lanyard loophole at the narrow top of the player. Then, with the book cover facing you, use your thumb, coin or a screwdriver to unclip and push the loophole out. Next, use your forefinger and thumb to unsnap the rope portion from the lanyard. This will allow you to thread the lanyard string through the hold and over the clip to keep it in place. Lastly, reattach the rope to the lanyard string. Wear it around your neck or use it as a shoulder strap.

How do I know how much battery life is left in my unit?
The Playaway LCD has a small battery icon that is displayed on screen. There are four levels of battery life reflected in the icon. When one bar is left in the battery icon, you have 20% power left.
